Prerequisites
Prerequisites for MAP Applicants
Applicants are required to have an excellent Bachelor’s degree in Chemical and Biological Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering or related subjects. German applicants should have an overall Bachelor’s grade of 2.5 or better. International applicants coming from different grading systems need a mark equivalent to “good” in their undergraduate degree. MAP applicants are performance oriented, eager for knowledge, hard working and diligent. Our students show strong motivation for interdisciplinary studies with a high level of interest in cutting edge research topics relating to some or all of the MAP focal subjects.
Since MAP is an international study program and lectures are held in English language, a very good command of the English language is essential. We require either a TOEFL or an IELTS test from all applicants whose previous degree was not conducted in English. In a TOEFL test, applicants should reach at least 85 points in the internet-based test (iBT). In an IELTS test, applicants should reach at least an average of 6. These scores are equivalent to the level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). A brief overview of different language tests and scores is provided by the orientation guide of the FAU.
